Fabric Care Symbols

A small selection of care symbols you should find on your garments and linen. This is in no way the full list, but simply a selection of common symbols we feel may help a little.

Washing

Wash40 This indicates that your garment can be machine-washed. The numbers represent the temperature (degrees Centigrade - 40°C) that the manufacturer recommends to get the best results.
Wash max Cotton Wash
Wash med Synthetic Wash
Wash low Wool Wash
Hand Wash Hand wash only
No Wash Do not wash
Chlorine Bleach Able to be chlorine bleached
Don't Bleach Do not bleach

 

Drying

Dry low May be tumble dried
Dry med Tumble dry - low heat
Dry high Tumble dry - high heat
No Tumble Do not tumble dry
Drip dry Drip dry
Line Dry Hang dry / line dry
Dry Flat Dry Flat

 

Ironing

Iron Low Iron - low heat
Iron Med Iron - medium heat
Iron High Iron - high heat
No Iron Do not iron

 

Dry Cleaning

Dry Clean Dry clean - any solvent
No Dry Clean Do not dry clean
